  • The Business Unit Director of Operations Excellence (OpEx) is a critical leadership role, reporting to the Business Unit Vice-President of Operations. This position is responsible for leading a team focused on maximizing store operations’ efficiency by leading and executing high-priority projects, managing operational support teams, and driving continuous improvements. The BU Director of OpEx is expected to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in store operations, supporting operations leaders in driving key performance indicators (KPIs) and enhancing customer experience. Additionally, the role plays a crucial part in change management by facilitating the successful implementation of company-wide initiatives.

    Essential Functions

    The essential functions of the BU Director of OpEx include Project Management, Program Support, Problem Solving, Hands on Operational Support, Cross Collaboration with BU Support Staff, Oversight of Operational Reporting, Facilitation of Field Communication and Spending time in the Stores.  The BU Director of OpEx must be well versed in all areas of store operations.  BU OpEx Directors must be able to effectively communicate with Store Staff, National/BU Support Teams and Executive Leadership.

    • Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary. This may include leading ad-hoc projects, supporting emergency response procedures, or stepping in for other operational leadership roles during high-demand periods.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5-7 years in retail operations

    • Bachelor’s degree is valued, but not essential

    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project planning and coordination and working on projects or programs requiring the integration of cross-functional business solutions

    • Experience managing operational or financial project budgets and leading project teams

    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

    • Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite

    • Possession of a current and valid driver’s license

    • Overnight travel throughout the Business Unit required, approximately 30-50%

    • Ability to speak and write in the English language

      • Bilingualism (French and English), both written and oral, is essential if located in the Eastern Canada Business Unit

    Work Environment

    This role is full-time and based in the Business Unit office, with the expectation of visiting stores 2-3 days per week.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at a normal range. The lighting will include natural light from the outside as well as fluorescent lighting throughout the work areas.
