The Project Engineer will help in the development of the Projects team as well as support our growing Compressor fleet. This position will have responsibilities throughout the lifecycle of our projects. These responsibilities will include tasks such as new opportunity evaluation, equipment quoting and sizing, vendor quote evaluation, component specification, design, and engineering reviews, PHA support, etc. Our projects are focused on gas gathering, compression and treating for producers and midstream operators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Uses a broad range of process, mechanical, and instrumentation engineering capabilities to evaluate, develop, model, and optimize ideas in support of capital projects.
  • Troubleshoot operational or design issues on existing facilities and equipment.
  • Perform engineering evaluations and technical feasibility related to new business development opportunities.
  • Perform initial sizing calculations for compression, process and treating equipment.
  • Develop RFP packages and evaluate Proposals for new Engineering projects.
  • Confer with project stakeholders, operations, management, vendors, and various subject matter experts to elaborate a proposed project scope definition.
  • Professionally report technical findings and insight to aid the collaborative decision-making process.
  • Interfaces with outside providers of engineering services to support execute efforts as needed.
  • Continually develops proficiency in software packages such as those used for process simulation, equipment selection/design, and ASME code calculations.
  • Responsible for the process design and function of major projects using internal and external engineering resources.
  • Responsible for developing plot plans, PFDs and P&IDs for Gas compression or treating facilities.
  • Responsible for completing or checking engineering calculations such as vessel sizing, line size, PSV sizing, etc.
  • Responsible for traveling to site for job walk, PSSR and commission activities.

                                                                                                                                      

Education, Experience, & Training

  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent Engineering.
  • 5+ years of Engineering experience is required. 7+ years is preferred.
  • Understanding of general oil and gas process industry principles and calculations.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
  • Knowledge of Gas Compressor Station Design.
  • Knowledge of Natural Gas Compressor Package Design.
  • Knowledge of Amine Treating Facility Design is a plus.
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills and the ability to solve problems as the arise in the field.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple 3rd party engineering contractors simultaneously.
  • Must have the ability manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to manage document control in an organized fashion.
  • Must have the ability to manage start up and commissioning of gas compression and treating facilites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills involving a very broad array of engineering disciplines and organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or as a part of a team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to size and select various types of equipment (Vessels, Pumps, Instruments, Control Valves, PSV’s etc)
  • Understanding of ASME pressure vessels is required.
  • Instrument design experience and understanding is required.
  • Understanding of sound project and process engineering management practices.
  • Proficient with computer modeling software. (BR&E Promax is preferred)
  • Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally, and in excess of 50 pounds rarely to move objects.
