The College of Engineering (CoE) is the largest college in Nanyang Technological University. It comprises five internationally known engineering schools with more than 12,500 undergraduate and graduate students, 350 faculty and 1,250 staff. CoE is a leader in innovation and technology with a research output ranked amongst the top three Universities in the world. The Dean’s Strategy Office (Senior Assistant Manager) will support the College’s planning, promotion, and strategic development to achieve its vision and mission.

Reporting to the Dean, the incumbent will actively coordinate the academic endeavours at the College. He/ She will work across the Schools to develop strategic documents and frameworks and execute these plans. Overall, he/ she will play a vital role in shaping the future of the College and ensuring its continued academic success, preparing students for engineering careers and advancing the frontiers of knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

Horizon Scanning

  • Detect early potential changes or emerging trends in the Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) landscape. This includes staying vigilant to best practices in engineering education and research.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data pertaining to academic programmes at NTU and other top universities and other key metrics as inputs for progress assessment and decision-makings by college leadership.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement strategic plans from analysis, aligning them with the broader goals of NTU. This includes identifying opportunities for growth, innovation and academic excellence for CoE and Schools.

Partnership and Alliance

  • Develop partnerships and alliances within and outside of the CoE. This will include representing CoE in interactions or cultivating relationship with external stakeholders such as alumni, donors, government agencies, and professional organizations.

Execution and Monitoring

  • Institute applicable metrics and performance indices to measure progress of strategic plans. Adjustment and/or adaptation of the strategic plans to be recommended in response of evolving circumstances.

Risk Assessment

  • Identify strategic risks and recommend necessary action to mitigate/eliminate these risks.

Requirements:

  • Masters or PhD qualification in STEM-related discipline from a recognized institution

  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good written and verbal communication, and presentation skills

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with good time management skills

  • IT savvy with good knowledge in Microsoft Office Applications

Successful candidate will be offered a 3-year contract.
