The Inventory Coordinator acts as a liaison between the department and Supply Chain Management to ensure that inventory levels reflect the department's needs and are managed by established policies and procedures. A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday 6:30am—3:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Support the operating rooms (ORs) at Lutheran Hospital.
Resolve shipping and receiving issues directly with the vendor or carriers, or clinical providers. Will need to provide recommendations for substitutes if there is an item out of stock or discontinued.
Provide technical set up and maintenance of automated ordering system.
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve any automated ordering system issues
Verify accuracy of receipts, orders filled and participates in consignment audits.
Respond to recalls as directed by the FDA or other agencies.
Assure that the facility meets regulatory requirements in the handling of biohazardous waste.
Prepare broken or returned equipment for shipment, maintain documentation of returns.
Receive storeroom stock items from shipping and receiving area; unpacks and inspects items for damage; verifies accuracy of shipment and inputs information in the warehouse management system.
Support Site Managers with communications with customers to fulfill areas’ stocking needs and anticipates future needs.
Monitor the flow of traffic into dock areas, prioritizing deliveries ensuring the safe receipt of goods and supplies and put away freight, supplies, packages, and perishable items from dock facilities using materials handling equipment.
Verify accuracy of shipments, check for damage to goods and document variances of orders. Prepare goods and supplies for distribution, prioritizing deliveries, sorting, and labeling loads ensuring the safe, correct, and timely delivery of orders.
Survey, fill, and stock Nursing floors and clinical areas to maintain inventory levels.
Maintain cleanliness of storeroom area; collects pallets from area and stacks for pick up.
Maintain the proper and appropriate professional and ethical relationships with all vendor representatives, conduct business according to established principles and guidelines.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must meet all Cleveland Clinic insurance requirements.
May require appropriate Valid Driver’s License (VDL) to drive box truck.
Two years of experience in inventory control functions with responsibility for par levels, purchasing functions, inventory analysis, and usage trends.
OR Associate’s degree in supply chain management or a related field.
On-the-Job Training: Six months on-the-job training required to learn specialized surgery components, inventory systems, and departmental policies and procedures.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience in healthcare supply chain function.
Computer systems experience including bar code readers, handheld computers, and printers.
Wavemark experience.
RFID scanning experience.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh up to 50 pounds.
Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 800 pounds and pull a 2500-pound pallet using a manual pallet jack.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Lifts and carries.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and work irregular hours.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
