Financial Controllers is the largest department in Finance primarily responsible for controlling daily profit and loss reporting, balance sheet and expenses for all business. Banking covers Investment Banking (Debt, Equity underwriting and M&A) and Corporate Lending products supporting Corporate and Commercial Banking clients. We work closely across functions on a daily basis including Trading desks, Risk Management, Operations, and other areas of Finance.  We work closely across functions on a daily basis (Front Desk, Business Management, Risk Management, Operations, and other areas of Finance) and develop a deep understanding of the products offered, along with the associated market risks and accounting complexities.

The Banking Lending Controller Analyst 2 is an intermediate level position responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the bank's books and records in coordination with the Finance team. The overall objective of this role is to control and support data integrity and general ledger reconciliation, insight and analysis around Product P&L and balance sheet reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the end-to-end Banking Controllers processes, including daily P&L and Balance sheet preparation and related activities. Provide analytical insight around drivers of the financials
  • Use effective escalation to ensure issues are highlighted in a timely manner. Focus on recurring issues and drive through enhancement projects and systems fixes
  • Support standardization efforts and work on strategic as well as ad-hoc projects to improve Citi’s Product Control system infrastructure and to implement process improvement ideas

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Ideal background:

  •  0-2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Confident analytical and communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. (Training will be provided on other in-house and industry standard systems used in this position.)
  • Knowledge of or demonstrated interest in financial products is an advantage.
