The Red Hat Cloud Engineering team is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to projects supporting the deployment and management of OpenStack Block Storage. You'll work on the development of software and CI tests in a variety of leading edge technologies and Open Source projects. As a member of the OpenStack team, you will work closely with other OpenStack and Red Hat projects to deliver features from inception, to the inclusion upstream, and finally to the productization. As an Associate Software Engineer, you will become part of a distributed team collaborating and communicating with other team members and upstream developers, as well as working on your own. You’ll be joining a team passionate about modern software development, continuous improvement and open source. 

What you will do:

  • Help deliver Red Hat's strategy around Openstack Cloud block storage management and the integration of those services in Red Hat Cloud based products

  • Develop, maintain, and write software and CI tests for block storage services and components

  • Participate in a significant way in the Cinder Open Source project and related upstream communities and projects

  • Engage and assist in the resolution of customer escalations

  • Make continuous improvement and end to end delivery.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

  • Proven software development experience on Linux platform.

  • Excellent programming skills with languages such as Python or Go on Linux platform.

  • Experience with Cloud, OpenStack, Kubernetes, Storage Protocols and related infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is highly desirable.

  • In-depth knowledge of storage fundamentals like block devices, file systems etc.

  • Comfortable working with a distributed remote international team. 

  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
