WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) is a top-level executive who is charged to ensure:

  • TNTP delivers on our mission to eradicate zip code as a predictor of life outcomes for young people, and

  • TNTP is a strong, sustainable and leading-edge organization despite shifting markets, increasing competitive environments, changing funding streams, and underlying political and national trends. 

A core area of focus will be to collaboratively craft our thought leadership point-of-view, ensuring we remain on the cutting edge of ideas and trends in the PK-12 and adjacent spaces. You will report directly to the President and provide leadership to two Vice Presidents and their teams within the division: Research, Emerging Services, and Impact & Learning.

This is a pivotal role for our organization, accountable to lead initiatives to drive innovation, growth, and profitability.  The successful candidate will have a depth of knowledge about the education and related sectors, a proven ability to consume data and insights on future trends, and turnkey that information into actionable plans. You will excel if you can see how seemingly disparate systems and activities connect and reinforce each other. The work involves seeing opportunity where others see challenge, an ability to produce results and lead people in ambiguous and nascent areas, and a willingness to incubate new ideas, concepts, services and business lines while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and change across the organization. Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of Chief Transformation Officer includes:

  • Lead effort to bridge organization from present to future and incubate new services and business lines

  • Drive change by leading initiatives to drive innovation, growth, and profitability 

  • Lead various approaches to measure effectiveness of external work and ensure TNTP understands key drivers of success; lead the org to establish long term impact metrics and annual KPIs related to external work. 

  • Assess the effectiveness of transformation plans, pilots and projects, and recommend a course of action as needed.

  • Create a plan for continuous improvement and innovation within the division and across TNTP

  • Encourage a culture of change and continuous improvement across the organization to help bridge the present to the future.

  • Partner with technology teams to create synergy when technology can amplify or accelerate our impact (success) and learning.

  • Collaborate with finance and business operations teams to leverage market trends and insights, and competitive landscape analysis to inform efforts (to develop new services and market entry points).

  • Identify and secure revenue to launch and incubate new services and research.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as clients, funders, investors, and researchers.

  • Represent TNTP, our mission, and emerging ideas externally with competence and confidence.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Experiences

We are looking for a candidate to possess the following skills and expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a related field

  • Seven to ten years of proven leadership experience in a similar role

  • Evidence of transformation or innovative thinking that leads to measurable outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience translating ambitious systems-level goals into concrete plans of action with excellent fidelity of implementation

  • Experience leading large Innovative initiatives, including experience with setting the vision, strategy and leading change management efforts (required) at scale

  • Experience growing a business through fee for service, business development, as well as funder cultivation and management

  • Experience leading teams, programs, and initiatives in a fully remote setting (preferred)

  • Prior strong experience leading and developing a high-performing team, fostering their professional growth and ensuring teams delivers exceptional service and support to client

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with staff at all levels of an organization

  • Ability to overcome barriers and meet goals, especially in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to critically assess challenges and identify flexible and effective solutions

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills allowing you to represent TNTP leadership internally and externally effectively

  • Comfort with reviewing complex data and using it to drive decisions and communication

  • Evidence of a strong commitment to ending education inequality and deep knowledge of the K-12 space, market, and areas of TNTP’s services

  • Comfortable with ambiguity with a solutions-orientated mindset with the ability to find opportunities

  • Proficiency in various technical applications, including the MS Office Suite

WHAT WE OFFER

The salary range for this position is $236,000 - $354,000. New hires can typically expect a starting salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint ($236,000-$295,000), in alignment with experience, qualifications, and our commitment to equity in compensation.
