Position Overview

The Capital Pillar Senior Analyst supports the management, analysis, and oversight of the university’s economic development and innovation fund portfolio. This position focuses on new investments, portfolio monitoring, strategic data analysis, and supporting the advancement of Ohio State’s entrepreneurial and economic mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct due diligence and investment analysis on new proposals, startups, and fund opportunities; develop financial and market research reports to inform investment decisions.

  • Monitor and track the performance of existing investments and prepare periodic portfolio performance reports and impact assessments.

  • Assist in the preparation of materials for investment and advisory committee meetings, including dashboards and portfolio presentations.

  • Analyze trends, risks, and emerging opportunities related to university economic development, capital deployment, and innovation sector best practices.

  • Maintain databases and documentation for all fund investments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.

  • Support communication with stakeholders, founders, and university faculty involved in the commercialization and innovation ecosystem.

  • Participate in cross-campus project teams that foster entrepreneurship, commercialization, and advancement of the university’s strategic capital investments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, public administration, or related field.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required in investment analysis, economic development, venture capital, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, organization, and deadline management.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and data/portfolio management platforms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s, or related area) preferred.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience in investment analysis, economic development, venture capital, or related areas, in an academic, government, and/or innovation setting.
  • Experience supporting investment or economic development activities within a university, public sector, or technology/startup ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with commercialization pathways, early-stage venture investing, and impact measurement.

Additional Information:

Salary

The salary range for this job profile is $88,300 - $115,350. The offer for this position may fall within this range based on multiple factors including internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
