The Compliance Specialist is responsible for various duties such as assisting in ensuring compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations across the company at all locations. The Compliance Specialist maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while providing exemplary customer service to our internal and external customers with focus on loan quality and compliance. This is a fully-remote position. Incumbent may reside anywhere in the US.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with management and departments to ensure the business is complying with all state and federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to TILA, RESPA, ECOA, CFPB, HUD, AML/BSA and SAR reporting requirements.
- Participates in regulatory audit exams including coordinating materials and validating documentation.
- Monitors and research compliance for loan-level audits and process audits.
- Oversees Compliance Helpdesk for all compliance inquiries including loan level TRID, RESPA, and Re-Disclosures questions.
- Resolves complaints to include research, root cause analysis, and provides response within required deadline.
- Reviews and processes file cancellations as requested by Sales and/or Underwriting within specified timeframes and SLAs.
- Monitors and assists with implementation of compliance improvements. RESPA, HMDA and TRID compliance monitoring and reporting.
- Assists with licensing and renewals for all branches, current and new MLO’s.
- Assists with vendor management compliance.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Years of Related Experience: 5 years of mortgage experience and minimum 2 years in compliance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Current knowledge of HMDA regulations.
- In-depth knowledge RESPA, TILA, TRID, and Fair Lending.
- Strategic and investigative researcher.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with solid computer skills.
- Analytical thinker and consultative mind to support both team members and managers in all areas of the business.
- Goal-oriented, self-motivated with the capacity to meet and exceed assigned goals.
- Willingness to learn, industrious, determined, and assertive.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks.
- Strong people skills with ability to interact with all internal teams and external customers.
- Must be able to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Diligence to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and on time.
