Role Purpose

 

This position is instrumental in the application of drafting software for the development of both 2D and 3D plant drawings. The AutoCAD Design Engineer take the lead role in translating the conceptual designs of the engineers and contractors into precise visual representations used to guide both construction and manufacturing projects. This position will ensure the availability and accuracy of all plant design drawings whether structural, electrical, piping, or layout focused. 

 

The AutoCAD Design Engineer supports all project design functions whether small or large scope. He/She will need to be able to adapt to fluid priorities that can be driven by plant and/or project needs.

As a key member of the McIntosh Team incumbent shares overall responsibility for:

·         Leading, modelling, and area accountability of adherence to global / local EHS Policy and Procedures

·         Meeting individual objectives and targets for EHS performance and improvement

·         Assigning responsibility and authority for EHS activities

·         Providing the adequate resources needed to implement the policy

·         Ensuring knowledge and skills are developed to effectively apply the EHS systems and standards

·         Reviewing the EHS system to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness

  • Audit and Review EHS effectiveness in area

Main Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with safety, operations, and contractors for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs

  • Ability to obey all safety rules and identify safety problems.

  • Strong computer aptitude, knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D model generation using CADWorx, and various Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Coordinating and consulting with peers to design, layout, or detail complex plant components

  • Capable of revising linework, references, notes, and callouts based on redline markups

  • Creation and updating of PIDs, Iso’s, electrical one-line, and 3D models for support plant projects or changes.

  • Assist in development of large and small scope engineering proposals that can be utilized for in-house estimates or third party bids.

  • Ability to clearly communicate information to all groups (engineers, operations, contractors)

  • Lead / participate in meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions

  • Maintain sufficient contacts with qualified outside contractors to meet plant needs beyond your ability to effectively respond.

  • Lead the maintenance of an accurate and accessible plant drawing records.

  • Identify and recommend any continuous improvement ideas that can improve efficiency within the plant

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of plant drawings

  • Ability to adapt to shifting plant or project priorities. Recognizing priority conflicts and seeking guidance to resolve.
