The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Category Manager to strategically manage product categories, optimize supplier relationships, and drive profitability. This role is crucial for ensuring the competitive positioning and continued growth of our offerings within the assigned categories.

How You´ll Make the Impact

* Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies aligned with Hitachi's overall business objectives, including market analysis, trend identification, and competitive benchmarking.
* Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle for assigned categories, from initial concept and sourcing to launch, promotion, and end-of-life planning.
* Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements to maximize value and minimize risk.
* Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
* Monitor category performance against key metrics, including sales, margin, inventory levels, and customer satisfaction, and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure seamless product development, launch, and ongoing support.
* Conduct regular market research and analysis to identify emerging technologies, customer needs, and competitive landscape shifts.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
* Develop and manage category budgets, forecasts, and pricing strategies to achieve financial targets.
* Lead and mentor junior members of the category team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.

Your Background

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. MBA preferred.
* Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in category management, product management, strategic sourcing, or a related commercial role, preferably within a global technology or manufacturing environment.
* Proven track record of successfully developing and executing category strategies that resulted in significant revenue growth and/or cost savings.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
* Proficiency in market analysis tools, inventory management systems, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
* Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
