Job Description 

 

The AI and Model Risk Lead Consultant will assist in the facilitation of the governance over the strategy of All state Canada Group Model Risk Management Framework (ACG MRMF) which includes Artificial Intelligence (AI) risk management. This role is responsible and accountable for executing the model and AI risk strategy and programs through the advancement of its various tracks. The role includes performing model risk assessments/health checks across the organization, identifying and assisting areas that require model risk management (including deployments of AI and Generative AI models), building out new structure to address AI and generative AI models, revising and formalizing ACGs model and AI risk management policy and supporting standards, as well as advancing automation of model and AI risk management into the enterprise model deployment platform. The role requires heavy coordination cross-functionally across areas of responsibilities. The individual will report to the Senior Manager, Risk and Return and will have meaningful interactions with leaders across the company. 

Accountabilities: 

  • Lead and execute the enterprise-wide model and AI risk management strategy, coordinating cross-functional risk initiatives and health checks.  

  • Drive the implementation and enhancement of model and AI governance frameworks, controls, and standards across 1st and 2nd line teams.  

  • Embed model and AI governance controls across 1st and 2nd line, including the proactive identification and tracking of models and AI use cases as they are deployed or modified across the organization.  

  • Provide independent model validation, performance monitoring, effective challenge, and remediation oversight in alignment with regulatory expectations (e.g., OSFI E‑23).  

  • Conduct targeted model and AI risk assessments and synthesize cross-theme insights and enterprise-wide solutions.  

  • Coordinate the implementation of Generative AI and broader AI deployment requirements across the enterprise.  

  • Maintain governance documentation, validation reports, model inventories, and related controls required for regulatory and audit readiness.  

  • Support regulatory reviews, internal audits, and examinations related to model and AI governance, ensuring compliance and strong evidence of controls.  

  • Partner with Business Unit CROs, leaders, model stewards and developers to integrate 1st line controls and capabilities into enterprise model risk management.  

  • Develop and deliver dashboards, metrics, and management reporting (e.g., Power BI) to communicate model and AI risk insights to senior leadership.  

  • Provide training, risk education, and capability-building within the enterprise risk & return team and across business units. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Strong understanding of model risk management frameworks, including model lifecycle governance (model onboarding, tiering, monitoring, validation, and decommissioning). 

  • Hands-on experience developing or working with analytical models and applying that expertise within a model governance or risk management environment. 

  • Familiarity with AI and emerging model types, with the ability to assess associated risks and governance considerations. 

  • Experience designing, implementing, or enhancing risk frameworks, policies, and controls, ideally within a regulated environment. 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and build collaborative relationships with business leaders and senior stakeholders. 

  • Strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to translate regulatory expectations into practical governance structures and processes. 

  • Experience working with risk management or governance tools (e.g., Archer, Fusion) and the ability to leverage technology to support risk oversight and reporting.

Compensation

Expected compensation for this role ranges from $ 89,300.00 - 139,300.00 annually.  Actual salary offered to successful candidates will vary based on their skills and experience.
