Power BI Security & Data Governance Specialist
Role Summary
The Power BI Security & Data Governance Specialist will lead the design, implementation, testing, and governance of security controls for enterprise Power BI datasets and semantic models within CBD's Unified Data Warehouse (UDW) ecosystem.
The role will be responsible for implementing and governing:
Row Level Security (RLS)
Object Level Security (OLS)
Active Directory (AD) group-based access
Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
Data masking controls
Sensitive data protection (PII/PCI)
Secure integration with UDW/LDM datasets
The specialist will work closely with Data Governance, CISO, Infrastructure, IAM, UDW teams, and Business Data Owners.

Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture
Design and implement Power BI security architecture for enterprise-scale deployments.
Translate RBAC requirements into Power BI security models.
Define security standards for datasets, semantic models, workspaces, and reports.
Ensure least-privilege access principles are consistently applied.
RLS / OLS Implementation
Design and configure Dynamic Row Level Security (RLS).
Implement Object Level Security (OLS).
Design security filtering using AD groups and role mappings.
Validate users can only access approved data domains.
Active Directory & Identity Integration
Work with IAM and Infrastructure teams to integrate AD Security Groups.
Support role mining and access certification exercises.
Design scalable security group structures.
Data Governance & Compliance
Implement controls for:
o PII data
o PCI data
o Employee data
o Confidential information
Support audit reviews and regulatory assessments.
Ensure compliance with CBD Information Security policies.
Power BI Platform Security
Secure workspaces and deployment pipelines.
Secure enterprise datasets.
Review gateway security configuration.
Implement data export and sharing controls.
Testing & Rollout
Define security test cases.
Support SIT and UAT activities.
Validate security controls before production deployment.
Support enterprise rollouts and CAB activities.
