Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the Aerospace Composites Center in Hazelwood, MO! The Advanced Composites Center has state-of-the-art enabled capabilities and operates to support Boeing’s Fighter Programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, remove, rebuild, and maintain precision machinery, component parts of machinery and equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, jig borers, radial drills and stretch forming presses, spar mills, hydro presses, numerically controlled production machines, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic test benches, portable hydraulic and pneumatic units (e.g., rivematics), foundry and heat treat equipment, crane rails and bridges, varidrivers and welders.
  • Prepare skids for transport of production machinery and equipment.
  • Repair diffusion pump, vacuum pump, and chain hoist.
  • Rebuild machinery and equipment, belts and guards, fittings and tubing, hoses, replacing broken lines, changing gaskets and filters, and making adjustments.
  • Remove machinery and equipment from warehouse docks, unload and install in factory areas.
  • Remove machinery and equipment from factory areas, deliver to and unload at warehouse docks. Lay out work.
  • Make functional checks of machines after repair or rebuilding to assure correct machine operation and to prove tolerances of machines, hydraulic jacks and portable pneumatic and hydraulic tools and equipment such as installation and removal of pedestal and bench drill presses, pedestal grinders, hand powered arbor presses, repairing hydraulic and pneumatic lines, filters, repairing oil leaks, welding band saw blades and portable tool repairs. Repair mobile maintenance equipment such as power sweepers, aisle sweepers, floor machines and sprayers.
  • Repair and replace hydraulic and pneumatic parts on mobile equipment in the plant areas. Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as scales, squares, micrometers, dial indicators, optical alignment and leveling instruments. Electronic data input or retrieval as required in the performance of their assigned duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with multi-axis Numerical Control (NC) machines
  • Experience as a CNC machine repair mechanic, manufacturing building systems mechanic, or general equipment repair mechanic, (i.e.: Pump repairs, ship repairs, large farming equipment or military equipment)
  • Experience as a machine repair mechanic, facilities equipment mechanic or manufacturing building systems mechanic

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with the set-up, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of machine tools
  • Experience with hand and power tools to construct, renovate and repair facilities and equipment

Additional Information:

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. Once any required training has been completed all new employees will be considered on probation for a period of one hundred twenty (120) calendar days. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required training and the probationary period.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education as acquired through high school, relevant experience, and/or trade/vocational training.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
