Summary:

The registered and certified pharmacy technician III works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

Trains, leads and serves as a resource to other technicians to help manage daily operational workflow.

Assists with development, organization, and implementation of process improvement, continuous quality and safety initiatives and outcomes.

Demonstrates proficiency in one or more specialty areas as required to meet the demands of the department (e.g. neonates, oncology, purchasing, automation, auditing , reimbursement, total parenteral nutrition, inventory management).

Independently executes and completes pharmacy projects or reports under the direction of pharmacy leadership.

Competent and skilled to perform all duties of Technician I and Technician II.

Able to perform all activities in the pharmacy technician scope of practice.

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (ACPHT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam (EXCPT) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)

Complexity of Work: The role requires advanced technological, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to lead and work well with others in a team with minimal supervision. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to respond positively in a stressful environment and meet the physical demands of the department. Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy TechnicianAdvanced computer skills preferred Other Information: Reference: Job Functions of a Technician I:-Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, unit dose systems, code carts, trays and kits.-Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas.-Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.-Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous preparations.-Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable.-Process medication charges/credits when applicable.-Responsible for orienting and training new pharmacy technicians or students.-Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations.Reference: Job Functions of a Technician II:-Competent and skilled to perform all duties of Technician I.-Performs sterile compounding, including limited hazardous medications in accordance with regulatory requirements.-Assists with process improvement and continuous quality and safety monitoring initiatives. -Assists with procurement of medications and supplies through various ordering platforms.-This list may not be all inclusive and subject to change
