Role: Design Engineer Student - Summer Internship

Team: Terex MDS Engineering

Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Mon–Thurs), 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Fri)

Reports To: Design Engineer

💡 What You’ll Be Doing

As a student of Engineering (preferably Mechanical), you’ll dive into exciting design projects for our world-class MDS equipment line, supporting everything from concept to prototype to production.

You’ll assist with:

• Design and development of innovative mechanical solutions for next-gen equipment
• Creating detailed drawings and 3D models (SolidWorks) including weldments and assemblies
• Building BOMs (Bill of Materials) and collaborate with suppliers to gather product data
• Making sure our designs are safe, functional, and field-ready
• Solving real-time engineering problems — both on the production floor and in the field
• Working cross-functionally with teams across engineering and operations

🧠 What You Bring

• Knowledge from your studies in Engineering (Mechanical or Product Design Engineering or similar)
• A good grasp of 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) and PDM systems
• A passion for designing systems that integrate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical elements
• Problem-solving mindset and creative flair for innovation
• Strong communication skills and team-first attitude
• A curiosity to learn and a “let’s figure it out” approach to challenges
