Job Description
As the leader of AI Applications and Modeling within the Storage and Memory Systems Pathfinding, you will lead a team chartered with understanding AI applications and trends, modeling memory systems to understand memory usage and translating that into future memory and storage products and technologies. Leveraging deep and broad technical expertise in data science, AI model usage and memory product development, you will provide full-stack innovation across software, architectures, memory systems, and memory devices. Through strong leadership acumen you will guide and develop key technical talent within the Systems Pathfinding team. This role is one of the most critical pathfinding roles as it merges new skills in AI and data science with more historical skills in memory and storage process technology, product development and memory sub-system architectures.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Define the vision for AI applications and modeling pathfinding work at Micron that results in defining our technical direction to improve the value proposition of our future product portfolio.
Leverage deep technical understanding of current and future data center and edge compute architectures and their usage of memory and storage to set technical priorities for AI applications pathfinding work
Model new features and capabilities for memory and storage technologies and products leveraging understanding of incumbent and emerging memory types
Create, correlate, and maintain innovative simulation- and emulation-based methodologies to identify hardware and software bottlenecks in current and future AI workloads
Simulate and project performance, capacity and bandwidth growth trends across all memory tiers for future AI applications.
Develop a culture of innovation and foster effective ideation within the team to drive new innovations that address future AI challenges
Systematically quantify the value proposition of innovative ideas through system analysis leveraging external and internally developed tools to simulate complex workloads running on state-of-the-art hardware and software
Foster collaborative culture and closely interact with hardware and software teams within Systems Pathfinding to develop proof of concept demonstration vehicles to validate simulation direction
Participate in deep technical engagements with customers leading to insights for the Micron pathfinding direction and the opportunity for joint development
Minimum Qualifications:
15+ years of experience with Masters in CS/EE or 20+ year experience with Bachelors in CS/EE along with formal training in data science
Hands-on experience in developing memory technologies and products including in-depth understanding of memory characterization and physics-based modeling techniques
Expert understanding of the memory hierarchy, DRAM memory and NAND storage in compute architectures and the ability to evaluate opportunities for emerging memory
Significant depth of expertise in data science, AI algorithms, emerging AI application frameworks, deployment of AI models including Large Language Models at scale
Experience with modeling and simulation architectures to rapidly scale performance, capacity, bandwidth projections
Strong track record of personal innovations and driving team innovations that deliver product and business value
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with executive leadership to advocate strategic direction and project investment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills through all levels of the organization
Excellent analytical, analysis, and problem-solving skills that are data driven.
Adaptable to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with dynamic demands
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$209,500.00 - $367,000.00Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
