MLB Network seeks a Traffic Specialist to work closely with Sales, Production, Programming, and Master Control departments to ensure programs and live events run according to schedule and troubleshoot any inventory changes requested.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule commercial units on broadcast logs across all networks in accordance with established traffic guidelines and procedures.
- Responsible for logging assigned commercial materials upon receipt from advertising agencies.
- Effectively utilize the Broadway system to achieve required results.
- Work closely with the Programming and Sales departments to ensure that commercials are scheduled correctly following changes to the program schedule.
- Interact with Master Control to execute last minute commercial changes and troubleshoot miscellaneous traffic related issues.
- Act as backup to Traffic Supervisor and Sr Manager, including but not limited to reconciliation of logs, managing commercial inventory, and ensuring the accuracy of the daily logs.
- Create “not final” logs for Master Control to locate missing commercial, promo and programming inventory.
- Responsible for posting “final” logs to master control across all networks.
- Schedule “make good” spots, as necessary across all networks.
- Maintains well-organized information about on-air advertisers to avoid billing discrepancies.
- Provide Master Control with “swap” lists, dub lists, and standby programming and inventory as needed.
- Other such duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 1 year of Traffic experience, preferably with a national network.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be proficient in the use of advertising traffic systems; Broadway experience is a plus.
- Experience in the television, advertising, affiliate sales or production industry is preferred.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have very strong attention to detail and excellent follow up skills.
- Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Communications or related major is preferred.
