SSBI IT Transformation is dedicated to enhancing our delivery and change management capabilities across EMEA and global markets. We are seeking an experienced IT Transformation Program Manager at the Vice-President level to manage and oversee our strategic, CTB, and PTB project portfolios. This role requires a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, global and/or highly complex initiatives with measurable outcomes or innovative solutions within our highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership skills, managing medium-sized team of globally dispersed project managers, program manager, portfolio managers, and/or analysists. A deep understanding of State Street’s products and services is essential to align with the strategic objectives of this role.
Position Overview
- · The SSBI IT Transformation Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and successfully delivering a comprehensive suite of project, program, or portfolio management (3PM) initiatives within the (internal/external) SSBI IT overarching portfolio. This position is critical for developing and maintaining a controlled, coordinated 3PM environment. Responsibilities also include the oversight and reporting of various internal initiatives (to ensure IT developments are fit for purpose) and/or external initiatives (to ensure alignment and support). The role demands meticulous planning, data-driven detailed analysis, frequent and transparent communications, and management of the 3PM risk profile. Also imperative to the success of this role is to ensure all initiatives adhere to SSBI 3PM / SDLC frameworks.
- · A crucial aspect of this role involves identifying and managing multiple dependencies across the enterprise to ensure seamless delivery of requirements throughout the initiatives management lifecycle. This includes the creation and maintenance of all necessary supporting documents and artifacts, ensuring they remain current and up-to-date. Additionally, the role requires the creation of data-driven and transparent reporting that offers relevant and key insights and supports executive decision-making.
- · Achieving success in this position requires exceptional stakeholder management and orchestration skills, coupled with the ability to facilitate seamless 3PM coordination. The candidate must develop clear, actionable plans with well-defined ownership and accountability for all actions and deliverables, managing these within tight timelines. The role operates within a matrix organization, requiring effective cross-functional collaboration. Essential duties also include precise analytical reporting and the regular delivery of comprehensive management briefings that cover the entire scope of the Portfolio /Book of Work assigned.
- · This senior-level position demands expertise in various technologies essential for effective 3P Management. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in MS Excel (or equivalent) with the capability to write macros. Also, proficiency in developing and managing SharePoint sites (ability to create forms / generate reports preferred), MS PowerApps (preferred). Practical Dashboarding experience in PowerBI (or equivalent) for creating insightful DBs. Familiarity with PPM tools such as MS Project Online, Planview, Clarity is essential as is the use of JIRA. Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite (specifically including Teams). And MS Project Professional (or equivalent) to facilitate efficient planning and execution of 3P initiatives.
Responsibilities will include:
- · Lead the management and oversight of multiple project, programs, portfolios ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
- · Develop strong ties/ partnerships with SSBI BU PMO working in unison for successful initiatives delivery
- · Chair/Host multiple 3PM workstream-level oversight and execution meetings.
- · Foster and maintain stakeholder, partner, peer, and cross-functional relationships focused on ensuring co-creation, collaboration, and transparency along the 3PM lifecycle.
- · Collaborate with international teams to foster a unified approach to 3P delivery and change implementation.
- · Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the IT transformation environment, focusing on efficiency and effectiveness
- · Engage with senior stakeholders to report progress, escalate issues, and secure buy-in for IT Transformation strategies.
- · Ensure rigorous 3P governance and compliance standards are maintained throughout the initiatives management lifecycle.
- · Communicate initiatives current health status (with supporting details as needed) to management, on a recurring basis (includes ad-hoc) as required
- · Resolves issues effectively by overseeing decision-making processes and taking ownership of mediation paths. Generates creative and innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- · Is the primary escalation point and liaison for stakeholders (and business teams), overseeing their involvement with designated initiatives and the broader portfolio.
- · Other duties as assigned including fostering a risk excellence environment
Required Skills and Experience
- · Minimum of 10+ years managing large-scale, transformative initiatives, preferably within the financial services or technology industry. Expertise should include both Change the Bank (CTB) and Protect the Bank (PTB) initiatives with an expertise in successfully delivery upon internal / external audit findings (e.g. results of onsite inspections and regulatory driven initiatives, remediations)
- · Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and multidisciplinary initiatives effectively
- · Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships across various levels of the organization
- · Understanding of the EU regulatory landscape as it pertains to financial services / technology
- · A strategic mindset with a robust, analytical, and inclusive approach to problem solving
- · Expertise in key technologies necessary for effective 3P management including advanced Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, and PPM tools like Planview or Clarity or equivalents of all.
- · Strong influencing skills to manage 3rd party dependencies and stakeholder expectations
- · Advanced 3PM capabilities, including handling multiple dependencies and collaborating across various stakeholder groups to achieve unified objectives.
- · Solid organizational and reporting skills with a keen attention to detail, necessary for high-quality presentations and decision-making
- · Ability to work in a time-based delivery highly matrixed organization
Qualifications
- · Solid (10+ years) experience in Project-Program-Portfolio (3P) Management
- · Solid (10+ years) experience managing change across multiple business units, including significant business change initiatives
- · Previous experience in managing multi-workstream improvement or remediation initiatives is preferred.
- · Relevant qualifications preferable (i.e. PMP, PRINCE2, CSM, MPA, CPD, PfMP, PgMP, Lean Six-Sigma, PMI-ACP, CAPM, etc.) or in-process of retaining certifications or willingness to obtain certifications
- · Relevant Methodologies PMBOK, PRINCE2, Scrum framework/Agile, Lean, Kanban, XP, TDD, etc.)
- · This role will initially be ring-fenced for the multi-year DARE program and knowledge of both the EU Data Act and BCBS239 is preferred.
- · Relevant Education preferable (Master’s Level)
