This position is responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to drive effective supply chain strategies focused on ocean freight execution & origin processes. This role will be required to optimize 3PL/ forwarders partnerships and drive continuous improvement in supply chain operational efficiencies, compliance requirements and cost effectiveness to achieve required lead time performance.

Major Activities

  • Provide full spectrum of support to supply chain strategies through strong partnership with internal Global Sourcing and Supply Chain stakeholders, as well as external suppliers and service providers including 3PL ocean carriers and airfreight forwarders. This role will be focused on improving origin metrics around On-Time Delivery, Vendor/Supplier compliance to origin processes, and communication with 3PL origin teams. (Yusen and ocean carrier local offices globally)
  • Act as a liaison with suppliers to enhance their logistics performance and container maximization to drive cost effectiveness. Manage operational exceptions on vendor load plans in adherence with Michaels SOP.
  • Regularly prepare for reports and perform data analysis with insights for management review to facilitate decision-making and unblock potential risks such as shipments delay  
  • Comprehensive tracking of seasonal and special event merchandise. Develop and publish tracking reports providing shipment status and exceptions to established calendar timelines.  Utilize reports to identify problem areas and expedite shipments when needed
  • Effectively manage local 3PL support (Yusen Logistics) to ensure operational processes, strong compliance, and continuous performance enhancement. Execute daily operational tasks and decision making to aid on-time freight flow and shipment planning.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to reduce costs by managing container flow as effectively as possible, identifying cost trade-offs where applicable
  • Continuously evaluate and challenge existing workflows, introducing best practices and process innovations to ensure scalability and future readiness.
  • Provide support in transportation sourcing strategies of country of origins and ensure demand accuracy and capacity
  • Provide ad-hoc support as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Supply Chain/Logistics Management or related discipline
     

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

  • Strong capability in data analysis to transfer data into insights and actionable plans
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power-Point, Power BI, Transportation Management System (TMS)

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant working experience in supply chain operations gained from sizeable or multinational companies preferably in US retailing industry with at least 2 years’ managerial experience
  • Track record as key liaison with suppliers, 3rd party logistics service providers and transportation management e.g. ocean carriers and freight forwarders across different regions

  • Multi-tasking, ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
  • Occasional travel is required; Up to 10%
