Job Description and Responsibilities

The Cut-Off Operator in our manufacturing process is responsible for operating, monitoring, loading and unloading equipment that cuts raw material into blanks for machining. The raw material is mechanically loaded onto roller equipped tables and manually loaded into a manual/automatic saw. As the material is cut, the operator removes the blanks from the saw post-cut working surface and loads them onto pallets or bins. After new hire orientation and on-the-job training, the Cut-Off Operator will be expected to be able to work within the company’s safety and quality protocol, independently transport product to their workstation, color code various grades of material, set up and maintain the manual/automatic saw, operate multiple cut-off saws simultaneously, visually inspect the product for defects, maintain traceability of product, and transport the finished product to the next process. 

  • Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Work in support of the Vision, Mission and Objectives
  • Follow the pertinent quality system procedures and policies
  • Identify heat numbers on raw material and assign proper heat codes
  • Cut blanks within specific square and length tolerances
  • Physically able to lift weights up to 80 lbs
  • Continuous grasping, lifting, bending and twisting
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics
  • Accountable to make improvements or corrections in line with the performance measures relative to the goals of the plant operations
  • Coordinate and lead the operation’s workforce to ensure safe work practices and product quality standards are met
  • Routine and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Forklift and Side-Loader Operation

Requirements

  • A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent education will be considered
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Trades or Engineering, or a combination of both education and industry experience will be strongly considered
  • Preferred Assets: Experience in operating equipment and being mechanically inclined
  • Demonstration of proficiency with computer systems to include Microsoft Office will be considered
  • Will constantly and consistently push self and others to be top performers and exceed goals
  • Will use logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Is widely trusted and can present the truth in an appropriate and helpful manner
  • Able to provide the information people need to know to do their jobs and make accurate decisions

Compensation

$28.21/hour
