To be successful in this role, some of the broad roles and responsibilities may include:

  • Develop software and tools to automate the operations of platforms, infrastructure, environments, and tools.

  • Establish a standardized set of tools for deploying and running applications, ensuring they are configured with best practices.

  • Maintain the underlying infrastructure to ensure it is reliable, secure, and scalable.

  • Assist software engineers in experimenting with potential new platforms, ensuring adherence to standards. When platforms become suitable for broader use, integrate them as standard group-wide tools.

  • Ensure all platforms are fully self-service, secure, and accessible within minutes without requiring human approval.

  • Strive to make our platforms highly appreciated by software engineers, continuously evolving them to incorporate new technologies and enhance the happiness and efficiency of our engineers.

  • Master the SRE philosophy: Embrace the principles and practices of Site Reliability Engineering.

  • Platform Engineering Pro: Excel in supporting CI/CD pipelines with platform engineering constructs.

  • DevSecOps Enthusiast: Understand and implement secure system design, automated operations and monitoring within the DevSecOps model.

  • Proactive Incident Commander: Lead the charge in resolving production incidents with expertise in ITIL concepts.

  • Infrastructure Innovator: Thrive on designing, building, and delivering infrastructure to enhance product availability, scalability, and latency. Mastery in infrastructure as code to build and maintain robust cloud environments.

  • Monitoring Maven: Be comfortable with a variety of monitoring and observability technologies.

  • Networking Guru: Have a solid understanding of routing protocols, packet captures, and services technologies like HTTP, DNS, TCP/UDP, JSON, and REST.

  • Configuration Management Expert: Hands-on experience managing diverse systems with tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Spinnaker.

  • PowerShell Pioneer: Expertise in scripting and automation with PowerShell

  • Develop software to automate deployment and operations as much as possible, using languages such as Python and Go, and automate the implementation of controls into our platforms.

  • Provide advice and guidance to platform teams on improving scalability, test automation, and deployment automation.
