The Systems Engineer will evaluate, maintain, and modify Motorola Public Safety systems consistent with customer and regulatory requirements.
Ensure the overall integrity of the architecture and design.
The Systems Engineer will take responsibility for and oversee all technical aspects of a customer system and its attributes from the transition to service.
Responsible for customer presentations reflecting the state of the network and/or summarizing a recent network event.
Participate in activities related to radio coverage testing and interference mitigation.
Coordinate with necessary internal and external teams to ensure complete system documentation and live system upgrades.
The Systems Engineer will participate in network planning meetings to ensure customer equipment is within MSI support guidelines.
Track and maintain End of Life/End of Support documentation in coordination with Pre and Post-Sale Engineering teams.
Lead required system maintenance and upgrade activities.
Provide a point of escalation for field technical resources to assist in network outage remediation efforts.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE
Experience, good understanding, and a working knowledge in IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA, ITIL or similar
Previous knowledge and/or professional experience working with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel are highly desirable
Experience directly working with end-user customers
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences.
The ability to present confidently and persuasively to internal and external customers.
Experience/knowledge in line-of-sight microwave propagation
Experienced technical professional with multiple years of experience in communications systems design and deployment
Experience troubleshooting customer systems and providing root cause analysis to summarize the system failure, as well as steps taken to mitigate future risks.
A solid understanding of communications systems and the Project Management environment
Fluency with written and spoken English
Location/Travel:
Local travel is required for all planned network activities, including potential unplanned events and remediation efforts.
The Systems Engineer MUST live within a commutable distance to the 5 boroughs of New York City.
Travel percentage is 25-30%, typically within the 5 boroughs of NYC. Less than 10% of out-of-state travel is expected as necessary for meetings, training, and other activities.
Projected Salary Range: $95K - $110K
This position is subject to working in high-security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
