Group Director of Product- Marketplace, Seller Risk
As the product leader responsible for seller risk, support, and performance, you will be force multiplier for Walmart's marketplace.
You will be directly responsible for eliminating constraints on marketplace growth by improving core risk controls, along with seller support and performance management.
This leader will be tasked with leveraging automation and AI to solve complex risk challenges, ensuring a robust platform that both protects customers and empowers sellers to drive the marketplace into its next phase of rapid, responsible growth.
What You'll Do:
- Lead Product Vision and Strategy for a new, combined organization encompassing Seller Risk, Seller Performance, & Seller Support within the Marketplace Organization.
- Drive Risk Transformation: Develop and execute a technology roadmap focused on accelerating marketplace growth by designing and implementing robust, automated risk controls, including advanced KYC (Know Your Customer) and identity verification processes, and effective business trustworthiness scoring.
- Solve the Growth Challenge: Directly address the biggest company challenge: enabling faster marketplace growth by implementing key risk initiatives and improving risk controls that currently limit expansion. Success will be measured by the ability to remove constraints on the marketplace’s growth velocity.
- Champion Automation and AI: Emphasize product development focused on automation and Gen AI to improve seller onboarding, enhance ongoing monitoring, and mitigate risks such as counterfeit products and fraudulent sellers through data-driven models and leveraging third-party signals.
- Executive Leadership and Team Scaling: Oversee a team of approximately 50 people across US and India, with 4 direct reports.
- Influence and Align Stakeholders: Collaborate closely with a new VP and SVP overseeing Seller Risk and Support, as well as over 500 engineers and a large analytics team, effectively articulating the product needs and strategy to senior leadership.
- First 12-Month Priority: Your initial focus will be on quickly implementing critical risk and support initiatives to enable accelerated growth, followed by performance efforts.
Ideal Experience:
- 10+ years of product management with a strong track record in e-commerce, retail, and/or two-sided retail marketplaces and building products at scale.
- Deep expertise in merchant/ seller risk management, including fraud prevention, KYC/KYB, compliance, and trust (preferably in retail marketplaces).
- Experience building or leading products for merchant/ seller support, success, growth, and/ or performance.
- Seasoned product leader with 7+ years of leadership experience (including leading managers of managers).
- Successful track record leading large product orgs (25-50+ people) and building high performing product teams.
- Knowledge of developing risk scores, leveraging third-party tools, and leveraging Gen AI and automation in enterprise risk-control contexts.
- Proven success in defining and leading product strategy to drive business growth and risk transformation.
- Exceptional ability to influence and align complex cross-functional stakeholders (Business, Engineering, Legal, Audit, Finance) to a defined strategy.

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related area and 14 years’ experience as a product manager, ideally working on consumer-facing, large-scale, highly complex B2B/C products, Supervisory experience, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
