Job Title: Red Hat Linux Engineer (24x7 Onsite Support)

Location: Erskine

Job Type: Full-Time, Shift-Based (24x7)

Clearance - UK Sole national eligible for SC and DV

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Red Hat Linux Engineer to join our team. This role involves providing round-the-clock onsite support to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. Applicants must be UK sole nationals due to the nature of the work and security requirements. Candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Linux systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime
  • Perform system installations, configurations, and upgrades, adhering to best practices
  • Respond promptly to incidents, resolving issues within defined SLAs
  • Implement and manage system security measures, including patch management and vulnerability assessments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure projects and deployments
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Participate in a rotating shift schedule of 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off to provide 24x7 support, including weekends and holidays
     

Qualifications
 

  • Proven experience as a Linux Engineer, with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Red Hat certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE) are highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, networking, and security
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Must be a UK sole national
  • Must be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges
     

Preferred Skills
 

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and incident management
