Location

Our Human Resource Generalists are integral parts of our team at WillowTree. To help retain our deep culture of collaboration, this role will maintain an in-office presence in a hybrid capacity (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). This role can be located in Boston, MA, Charlottesville, VA, or Durham, NC. 

The Opportunity 

As a Human Resources Generalist, you'll serve as the front-line HR contact executing on our people processes and employee experience programs. You will be a key resource for internal and external stakeholders regarding the employee experience at WillowTree. You will work across the HR landscape to execute strategic projects and initiatives, serve as an initial touchpoint for employees regarding WillowTree processes and programs, and will operate with a particular focus on process compliance and leave administration and management. You'll collaborate with the HR, Talent Acquisition, and Employee Experience teams to foster an environment where everyone at WillowTree can thrive.

Responsibilities 

Leave Management and Compliance:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on leave management, ADA compliance, and HR policies, keeping WillowTree up to date on requirements and incorporating compliance needs into employee-focused programs and practices.
  • Collaborate across the business and work closely with our Learning & Development team to provide training and resources related to WillowTree policies, including leave management, related benefits access, and compliance efforts.
  • Communicate with employees and facilitate interactions with our third-party leave administration platforms to manage the ADA interactive process, collaborating with management stakeholders, project leadership, and the employee.
  • Administer leave programs, including FMLA, state-specific leave programs, and other leaves.

HR Compliance and Policy Development:

  • Ensure company process and policy compliance with relevant HR and industry-related laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Develop and implement HR compliance programs and policies to adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in HR laws and regulations, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage mandatory state and federal reporting requirements; facilitate internal audits and related reporting
  • Demonstrate meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail in executing complex, long-term projects involving cross-functional stakeholders
  • Use HR data to draw meaningful insights and make recommendations for improvements

Culture and Leadership:

  • Advocate for and foster a culture that values meaningful mentorship, inclusion, and innovation 
  • Work with HR and Talent Teams to process new hires, facilitate on-boarding and off-boardings, and guide stakeholders through other personnel movements
  • Demonstrate empathy that activates and inspires others to engage in culture growth initiatives

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience in various aspects of Human Resources, including leave administration, benefits administration, compliance reporting, operating in a multi-state or international environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state HR regulations, especially related to ADA and leaves of absence
  • Experience with multi-state leave management (state-level PFML experience a plus)
  • Excellent verbal and professional written communication skills
  • Demonstrated business maturity and integrity, especially when dealing with highly confidential matters
  • Demonstrable experience using data to draw meaningful insights and recommendations
  • Ability to prioritize and move between multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments and management levels within the company
  • Proficiency in HRIS (preferably Workday) and Performance Management Systems (e.g., Lattice)

Bonus Points 

  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification
  • Background in fast-growing companies with changing business needs, particularly in the creative or tech industry
  • Familiarity with managing SOX and SOCII audits and creating related compliant processes
  • Experience operating in a global company

USA Pay Range
$70,000$105,000 USD
