Who we are looking for

We are seeking a seasoned leader with a proven track record in managing testing within large-scale, client-facing transformation programs. The AVP will play a pivotal role in the Alpha Global Testing Practice, overseeing strategy, planning, execution, and governance of end-to-end platform testing during Alpha implementations. These programs span complex business models and data flows across front, middle, and back office operations involving State Street, Charles River Development, clients, and industry partners.

Thorough testing of Alpha’s applications, data, and workflows is essential to accelerate implementation timelines, ensure consistent delivery, and provide a seamless client experience. The AVP will be instrumental in driving this transformation and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

What you will be responsible for

  • Work with Implementation leads and manage global client onboarding programs to the Alpha platform.
  • Represent State Street Alpha in client engagements, setting testing expectations and guiding delivery.
  • Manage financial planning, resource allocation, and change management for the testing team.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and contribute to the implementation delivery model.
  • Oversee a global team of functional and automation testers.
  • Drive adoption of best practices and testing standards across workflows and data models.
  • Develop and deliver internal and client-facing documentation (e.g., proposals, playbooks, test plans).
  • Lead planning and execution of testing activities, reporting progress to senior leadership.
  • Contribute to creating presentations and status reports that include executive summaries, project plans, return on investment, recommendations, and general status to leadership.
  • Providing strategic guidance and mentorship to team members on key initiatives
  • Areas of focus include global team strategy, quality assurance program for the testing on implementation projects, financial and resource planning and management, vendor management, standardization, and business risk management

The successful candidate must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, and understand global portfolio management and financial servicing; including portfolio construction, trading, compliance, and risk across all major asset classes.  This position will have interaction with, and exposure to, the highest levels of executive management within State Street and within our clients’ organizations.

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Stakeholder engagement and expectation management across project life cycles.
  • Strong interest in global capital markets and quantitative investments.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills .      
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, globally structured, and team-based environment, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in agile methodology and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) preferred.
  • Electronic trading platforms experience is useful but not essential.
  • Experience in portfolio management theory and application is useful but not essential.
  • Knowledge of key risk indicators, governance, oversight and escalation practices.
  • Presentation preparation and delivery for business risk committees and cross organizational, executive and board of directors’ committees.
  • Strong execution management skills for delivery of programs and initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate and work across multiple stakeholders.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Management or Information System Management.
  • 15+ years overall experience with 10+ years of financial and/or technology transformation experience.
  • 8+ years leading project teams across internal and external stakeholders.
