Investment Banking Associate

The Associate serves as a key member of the deal team working to project manage deal executions with Managing Directors, Principals, Vice-Presidents, Analysts and Interns. 

An Associate will have responsibilities that include the following:

  • Creating and coordinating the preparation of and participation in new business presentations; 
  • Taking a key role in project managing client mandates, typically advice to corporates regarding mergers, acquisitions, disposals, refinancing, restructuring and general financial advisory:
    • Allocating and monitoring work of Analysts and Interns;
    • Reviewing work product of Analysts and Interns prior to presentation to senior bankers;
    • Speaking with clients, buyers, sellers, lawyers, financing providers and investors and assisting with process-related requests;
  • Creating and coordinating the creation of financial models and business valuations;
  • Conducting industry and company-specific due diligence related to transactions;
  • Attending client meetings;
  • Assisting in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships;
  • Monitoring of client news flow and general business and industry research; and
  • Managing, development training and coaching of analysts and interns.
  • Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment (e.g. people, processes, structure or culture); adjusting effectively to change by exploring the benefits, trying new approaches and collaborating with others to make the change successful.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualified candidates typically possess a combination of most or all the following:

  • Proven investment banking or relevant financial services experience of a minimum of 2 years;
  • Exceptional academic credentials with at least a 2:1 from a leading university;
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to perform well under pressure;
  • A keen eye for detail, strong numerical ability and logical reasoning;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly;
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and a real interest in transactions;
  • A strong track record of excellence in extra-curricular activities alongside your studies.
