SmartRent is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of network and systems infrastructure within our existing and upcoming managed WiFi communities and smart home IoT deployments.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a newly created team that will be building a network operations center from the ground up. Team members will have the opportunity to help design and deploy network and element management systems, operational playbooks, define service level agreements and develop interdepartmental processes. You will report directly to our Director, Network Operations Center.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware Validation and Provisioning: Assist in the validation and provisioning of network hardware for new projects and communities. Work closely with project teams to ensure hardware configurations align with network standards and requirements.
  • Network Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize network configurations for optimal efficiency.  Recommend changes and upgrades to improve network reliability and performance.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures. Generate reports on network performance, and incident resolution.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network designers, developers, project managers, and support teams, to address network-related challenges. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on network-related escalations.
  • On-Call Rotation: Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotation with other team members, including availability on nights and weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field, and 1-3 years of relevant experience in network engineering OR equivalent combination of relevant work experience, skills, and education or training.
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer, preferably in an internet service provider and/or network operations center (NOC) environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Possess industry-recognized certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+ to demonstrate proficiency in networking technologies and protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications such as, Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA), Ruckus Certified Network Implementer (RCNI), Ruckus Certified Wi-Fi Associate (RCWA), etc. would be a plus but not required.
  • Experience with WiFi technologies and networks within Multifamily or supporting multi-location infrastructures.
  • Experience with RG Nets rXg, Ruckus, Cambium, and TP-Link hardware are highly desirable.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring 3 days in our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters.
  • While primary hours will follow a standard daytime work schedule, flexibility to be on-call and to work nights, weekends and holidays when needed is required due to the nature of 24x7x365 NOC operations.
