The Opportunity
The MSL is the medical / scientific voice of expertise for Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) products and therapeutic areas. This field-based role focuses on medical & scientific engagement with ADC stakeholders. Provides medical / scientific expert advice / guidance to key customers for ADC products & relevant therapeutic areas, including scientific exchange & professional development with key thought leaders / external experts and provides medical / scientific affairs support to the national commercial team.
 

What You´ll Do

1. Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to health care providers, individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where requested,

2. Ensure professional and credible relationships with thought leaders and external experts of strategic importance to ADC.

3. Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for ADC in key academic centers by facilitation of research and educational initiatives, while supporting requests for medical and scientific information on products or areas of therapeutic interest to ADC.

4. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other in-field members while retaining functional independence.

5. Serve as a point of contact within the medical affairs team for thought leaders and external experts within an assigned geographic area in order to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area and, when requested, relevant ADC products, to support their safe, effective and appropriate use and extend new indications

6. Coordinate and execute regional education and scientific symposiums.

7. Participate in the selection process to identify appropriately qualified thought leaders, ADC would wish to engage in collaborative efforts – such as educational and advisory roles (Advisory Boards, Congresses, Symposia, etc.) while ensuring a high level of scientific or educational integrity in these collaborative efforts.  

8. Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences.  Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information to inform ADC strategic priorities and initiatives.

9. Propose key thought leaders / external experts with scientific and technical support for publications of scientific or medical interest.

10. Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted with due regard to all applicable local and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, company policies and accepted standards of best practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Scientific degree in Health Sciences

  • Preferred: PhD, MD, PharmD

  • More than 10 years in a health sciences field.

  • Extensive experience in customer facing Healthcare

  • Experience of working with MS Office

  • Driving license for passenger car

  • Fluent in Spanish and English


Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical device or pharma industry experience

  • Experience in Diabetes Care

  • Advanced skills in evidence-based medicine, clinical study design or medical statistics.

  • High personal integrity and ethics required.

  • Excellent communication/organization skills required.

  • Results and Action Oriented - Driven to excel and capable of inspiring others to excellence as well.

  • Able to envision a winning future for the organization and then help turn the vision into reality through hands-on action.

  • Accepts the accountability for results of the team and provides clear direction with input from others.
