Agropur is looking for an Operations Manager to join its Burnaby team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager plans, manages, and leads production and cooler warehouse activities at the Burnaby Plant. He will have a strong commitment to safety, food quality, efficiency, and fostering positive labour relations.  This individual will lead and drive initiatives to meet and exceed operational strategies and objectives.

What’s involved in this role:

More specifically, the Burnaby plant operations manager's responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and support production and warehouse supervisors.

  • Lead and drive organizational goals and strategic plans for the site.

  • Ensure production meets the standards outlined by Agropur, as well as customer and consumers expectations, regarding safety, food quality, and environment, while controlling expenses.

  • Support and work collaboratively with the various teams when issues arise. Ensure consistency in the investigation process.

  • Be proactive in identifying problems and efficient in rolling out solutions.

  • Supports audits (by government, third parties, customers), and actively participate in developing and carrying out action plans.

  • Serve as a change agent, promote a clear vision, and enrich plant culture.

  • Manage plant budget, monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and drive action plans when targets are not met. 

  • Participate in the annual plant budget, capital expenditures, and project planning related to the site.

  • Promote and enhance a positive workplace culture, encourage opportunities to work as a team, and establish high levels of employee engagement.

  • Perform frequent Gemba Walk to observe, monitor activities, plant cleanliness, and communicate with employees.

  • Support employees in troubleshooting and offer after-hours support, where required.

  • Provide leadership on continuous improvement activities.

  • Support communications within the site and escalate issues to relevant parties.

What you need to join our team:

  • Post-secondary education in operations, management, or a related technical program.

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a unionized environment.

  • Experience in the food industry is considered an asset.

  • Experience with LEAN methodology and tools is an important asset.
