What you'll do

You’re joining a team that’s passionate about the customer vision and innovating all aspects of our customers’ day to day needs. Aligned to our ‘Manage My Money’ customer goal, you’ll be working with your colleagues to deliver the technology strategic roadmap, while ensuring the right balance between our business goals and building future technology, at the right cost.

Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll be developing knowledge of aspects of the associated platform across the disciplines of business, applications, data and infrastructure. You’ll also be liaising with principal engineers, architects in the domain and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and how it supports business objectives.

You’ll also be:

• Applying Agile methods to the development of software on the backlog
• Delivering intentional architecture and formulating emergent design through innovative ideas, experimentation and prototyping
• Providing insights into how payments, collections, and reconciliations flow through systems, including cut-off times, settlement cycles, and exception handling
• Handling operational risk, fraud detection and controls relevant to high-value transactions and sensitive financial data
• Managing and optimising databases for real-time transaction processing and monitoring

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with strong full stack experience in software design and implementation, including being able to exploit programming languages to solve complex problems. You’ll also need to be capable of complex requirements analysis capture and validation against and with business and systems requirements.

You'll have experience leading the implementation of programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance. Strong collaboration skills are essential, along with the ability to work with business teams to deliver pragmatic, business focused solutions.

Additionally, you’ll demonstrate:

• Deep understanding of cloud-native database services, provisioning, scaling, and performance tuning
• Advanced SQL skills for writing efficient queries and optimizing performance across large datasets
• The ability to design scalable, normalised and secure data models tailored to business needs
• Proficiency in using tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or custom scripts to monitor performance and resolve bottlenecks
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python or Bash for automating routine tasks
