Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Senior Systems Management Specialist will be responsible for supporting critical applications and their infrastructure across diverse platforms, including Linux, Windows, and Cloud (On-Prem/Public) environments. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and innovation of RBC’s IT ecosystem, requiring collaboration with internal stakeholders, third-party providers and cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions aligned with stakeholder needs.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Technical Support:

  • Manage application support across users using Linux, Windows, and Cloud (On-Prem/Public).
  • Ensure environmental stability in pre-production and production phases
  • Develop tools to automate and troubleshoot issues for the application.
  • Environment Management: Configurations, Security, Maintenance, and Deployments for technologies including Databases, Application Servers & Middleware, Cloud Platforms and Data Storage.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with relevant stakeholders on new initiatives and system support, fostering alignment between IT and Business objectives.

IT Planning & Execution: Develop detailed plans and estimates for system installations, upgrades, and configurations, adhering to established standards.

Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster testing and recovery activities to ensure business continuity.

On-Call Support: Provide after-hours support

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must-Have:

  • Experience: 5+ years in IT Role (DevOPs, Infrastructure, Networking).
  • Good working knowledge in areas of:
    • Scripting: Python, PowerShell, JSON, XML.
    • Platforms: Linux, Windows Server, Cloud (Azure/AWS).
    • Deployment Tools: GitHub, Helios, UCD
    • Networking/Security: IP, LDAP, Active Directory, Security.
  • Adaptable to emerging technologies.
  • Ability to adopt Agile Methodologies (Kanban, Scrum) and Tools i.e. Jira, Confluence

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a Team, Cross-functionally; while managing individual tasks, priorities and accountabilities

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge of systems management tools such as scheduling tools like StoneBranch, Monitoring tools like Zabbix and configuration management tools.
  • Education: University/College degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of application development and data governance.
  • Knowledge of ITIL standards and best practices.
