Job Title: Head of Medical Affairs

About the Role

GSK is seeking a seasoned Head of Medical Affairs Oncology to lead our medical team in the Netherlands.

This role is pivotal in driving our medical leadership, strategy, and execution, including MSL activities in the specific therapy area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the asset-specific medical team in the LOC, driving external engagement with relevant stakeholders, and supporting our medical affairs strategy to positively impact the healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the asset-specific medical strategic and operational plan.

  • Drive execution of external engagement plans with Health Care Professional/External Experts, patient groups, and medical/guidelines societies.

  • Provide functional leadership to the medical team and collaborate with commercial teams to align with LOC priorities.

  • Lead gap analysis and input into the above-country evidence generation plan.

  • Work with market access teams towards positive evaluation and reimbursement of GSK specialty portfolio.

  • Provide high-level scientific presentations and insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support the personal and professional development of team members.

  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, regulations, and legislations.

Education Requirements:

  • PhD, MD or PharmD with clinical or scientific expertise (expertise - list of publications, PubMed - in specialty, immunology, or respiratory oncology  area

  • Existing network of local External Experts

  • Leadership and People management experience

  • Ability to successfully engage in scientific exchange with external experts

  • Excellent presentation and teaching skills to represent the company in a professional manner at medical, scientific and public events

  • Fluency in Dutch and English required - both written and spoken.

Job Related Experience:

  • 5 + years of experience in disease area in pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs or related roles

Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience and ability to lead change & drive performance

  • Innovative mindset with a can-do mentality

  • Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in these areas

  • Experience evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based medicine

  • Ability to work in matrix and X-functional teams

  • Strong scientific communication and presentation skills

  • Relationship builder

  • Experience with initiating evidence generation projects
