Support Our Communities
The NewYork-Presbyterian Choosing Healthy & Active Lifestyles for Kids (CHALK) program in the Division of Community and Population Health aims to increase access to healthy lifestyles for residents of all ages in priority neighborhoods across NYC and Westchester County. We partner with local organizations to provide emergency food resources, nutrition education, and safe, joyful spaces to play, move and connect. Ultimately, we aim to reduce the prevalence of chronic disease by addressing social determinants of health.
Program Lead – My Block Program – Neighborhood Safety
CHALK’s evidence-based My Block program launched in 2024 to increase access to physical activity by improving and activating public space. We work in collaboration with community-based organizations, city agencies, and residents in priority neighborhoods identified through NewYork-Presbyterian’s Community Health Assessment and Community Service Plan. In 2025-2027, we are deepening My Block’s focus on neighborhood safety in response to community input.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Lead - Neighborhood Safety functions as the point person for several initiatives within the My Block portfolio and as a subject-area expert on neighborhood safety for the larger CHALK team. They are responsible for managing the administrative and programmatic responsibilities specific to their area of focus, including day-to-day operation of programs, relationship building with community and NYP stakeholders, data collection, reporting, and grant management. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with colleagues across the NYP enterprise and research partners at affiliated academic medical centers. This position will require travel to our various priority neighborhoods including Washington Heights, Crown Heights, Corona, the Lower East Side, and Mount Vernon for community events. Frequent evening and weekend hours are required.
