Job Description:

SUMMARY:

               

Responsible for Groundskeeping irrigation and landscaping. Duties will include, but not be limited to plumbing, sprinkler operation by use of a computer controlled irrigation system, the application of pesticides and fertilizers, and landscaping responsibilities requiring the use of various forms of machinery and equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Interacts effectively with the pubic and Team Members.  Perform excellent customer service at all times.

  • Programs and operates a computer controlled irrigation system/reclaim water disposal system.

  • Installs new irrigation sprinklers and piping including communication wiring for upkeep and new landscape projects.

  • Maintains & repairs irrigation sprinklers & pipes.

  • Troubleshoots irrigation electric valves and communication wiring ground faults.

  • Maintains lawn areas by mowing, edging and keeping lawns free of weeds.

  • Inventories and orders irrigation parts, while keeping a daily journal of repairs and incidents.

  • Operates all equipment and uses chemicals in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and in a safe manner.

  • Operates box scrapper front-end loader back hoe tractors.

  • Maintains appropriate fertilizer and water levels on grass, shrubs, plants, etc.

  • Maintains a valid California driver’s license.

  • Maintains all lawn equipment; ensures cleanliness and safe, efficient working conditions.

  • Keeps parking lots and other public areas free of debris.

  • Performs any reasonable request made by management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED preferred; ground maintenance experience preferred.  Must have at least10 years of experience in irrigation repair, maintenance and installation at a large facility, i.e., casino hotel, golf course, park, school, cemetery or landscaping company.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to operate box scrapper, front-end loader back hoe tractors, knuckle boom

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.  Ability to compose simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information to management personnel, customers and other Team Members of the organization.

                     MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

                REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out verbal and written instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized and variable situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The Team Member frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The Team Member is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. 

The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.  The Team Member is regularly exposed to extreme heat during the summer and extreme cold during the winter and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The Team Member frequently works in high, precarious places.  The Team Member is occasionally exposed to, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations from equipment.

                The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
