Purpose:

Strategic Accounts are generally considered to be our most valued customer category as they represent the best strategic fit for our business in terms of total sales, revenue potential, partnership mentality and recognition of mutual success.

The purpose of Strategic Account Manager is to develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive vision and strategy focused on building engaged, collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships with assigned Strategic Account(s), with a goal to drive achievement of key identified performance targets, in line with each company’s agreed expectations.

More specifically:

  • For Sandvik Coromant: supporting delivery of local and global sales and profitability targets for assigned Strategic Accounts, in alignment with the company's growth strategy and brand positioning.
  • For the Strategic Account(s): supporting delivery of their local and global business targets through realization of the value provided through Sandvik Coromant’s full portfolio of products, services, industry knowledge and support

Responsibilities

  • Identify key global/enterprise level stakeholders within key functional departments of assigned account (including Indirect Purchasing, Direct Purchasing, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Advanced Planning, Quality, Digital Transformation, R&D etc) and develop, strengthen and/or manage relationships to position Sandvik Coromant as a trusted business partner throughout the highest levels of the organization.   
  • Ensure that the Sandvik Coromant front line sales teams (including Account Managers, Application Specialists, Regional Sales Managers and Cluster Managers), responsible for servicing the production subsidiaries of assigned Strategic Account(s), have access to all local production facilities, key customer contacts, stakeholders, decision makers and opportunities needed to grow our business across the assigned account’s enterprise and value stream.
  • Negotiate, secure, and implement commercial/pricing and/or partnership agreements on a global or regional level, as dictated by the customer’s manufacturing footprint and our mutual commercial needs.
  • Develop and maintain a full understanding of Sandvik Coromant’s total offer (including products, services, knowledge, resources, and support) and how that translates into value for our customers.
  • Be the global customer expert within Sandvik Coromant for the assigned Strategic Account(s) by studying and thoroughly understanding the customer’s vision, strategy, and goals. Using that knowledge, identify the needs and pain points across the customer’s full value stream and introduce/suggest the appropriate Sandvik Coromant products, solutions, knowledge and/or support to meet those needs.
  • Actively support “replicate success” strategy by identifying Sandvik Coromant component/process/application/feature successes at individual customer sites and sharing with other sites or key stakeholders, for consideration of implementation.
  • Using the appropriate business systems (CRM, Power BI etc), actively monitor and drive the global sales opportunity pipeline list and ensure resource priority is given, according to and in furtherance of the goals set by the customer and Sandvik Coromant. 
  • Ensure that Local Business Plans (LBP) and individual site-level Account Plans are properly aligned with the overall global strategies of the assigned account(s).
  • In furtherance of delivering total satisfaction in all interactions with Sandvik Coromant, establish and manage a global internal support network (e.g., front lines sales, sales operations, local key account management etc.) to ensure Sandvik Coromant is fully informed about any agreed Service Level Agreements and/or customer expectations and is positioned to deliver accordingly.
  • Track and provide feed-back on trends of your assigned customer(s), the customer’s segment and/or overall manufacturing market (both commercial and technical) and the current and future demands anticipated,
  • Contribute continuous improvement of the SGAM processes, way of working and total offer dedicated towards Strategic Accounts.

Competencies

  • Bilingualism an asset, fluent English skills are a must.
  • Proven sales ability.

  • Good understanding of the global business, internally and externally

  • Track record of accountability with capability to prioritize, organize, plan and execute assignments without direct supervision.

Experience

  • 5 + years related metal cutting experience.
  • Broad & in-depth experience of metal cutting activities.
  • Experience in Key Account Management is preferred.
  • High level understanding of Strategic Account business management is preferred.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Operations (especially machining) is highly desirable.
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills with MS Office; Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access.
  • Good overall knowledge of the metal cutting industry.
