The Role

Pilot is building a first-of-its-kind, software-centric solution to tackle the financial back office (bookkeeping, tax, CFO, etc.) so that founders and business owners don't have to. We already work with 1700+ customers in the tech startup and e-commerce spaces and are expanding rapidly, and the data team has a pivotal role in driving Pilot’s growth.
 
As a data analyst at Pilot, you'll join a group of high-performing and motivated data professionals focused on impact and collaboration. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organization to solve business-critical problems with your analytical skills.
 
We are seeking an individual who has demonstrated success in leveraging data to solve real-world business problems in SaaS or services-focused companies. You’re passionate about using data to solve hard problems, and you’re an expert in analyzing complex data and crafting compelling narratives to communicate your insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform deep-dive analyses to uncover insights and influence business decisions
  • Create and maintain company-wide metrics and reporting in Looker
  • Build high-quality DBT pipelines to automate data analysis and empower scalable analytics
  • Handle ad-hoc data requests, while addressing stakeholder teams’ long-term goals
  • Train and mentor other teams on how to best use data to drive their decisions

About You

Our requirements for this role are:
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as data analyst (ideally SaaS or services-oriented companies)
  • Experience leveraging data to inform business decisions
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL and spreadsheet (GSheet/Excel)
  • Experience with BI tools such as Looker
  • Strong communication skills
 
Here are some preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working with sales, marketing, or finance teams
  • Experience with DBT, Snowflake, and Fivetran
  • Experience working with Salesforce and Zuora data
  • Experience with Python

The base pay range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $103k - $139k in San Francisco, CA. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors such as candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data. In addition to cash pay, full-time regular positions are eligible for equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits; some of these benefits may be available for part-time or temporary positions.
