Job Summary

This position is Monday through Friday with some weekends. Hours do fluctuate based on the needs of the department, but normal hours are 3:30pm - Midnight
The Supervisor for Incomplete Chart Files, Release of Information (ROI) has direct oversight for the ICF staff and Birth Certificate Coordinator(s).

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Participate in hiring, coaching, mentoring, annual evaluations, facilitating corrective actions, and employee engagement activities
• Develop and maintain customer service focus with regards to patient interaction, turnaround times, and processes for electronic transmissions of patient requests
• Establish objectives, goals, and quotas for the Release of Information section of HIM
• Perform quality auditing on patient records released to ensure accuracy and integrity of record
• Oversee all regulatory and payor record request functions for timeliness and follow-up
• Maintain birth certificate compliance according to state guidelines for AOP capture/submission
• Serve as back-up for ICF and/or Birth Certificate Coordinator(s) when needed
• All other assigned duties related to Health Information Management

Education and Experience-
• High School Diploma or GED
• + 2 years of leadership experience leading people and/or processes

Skills and Abilities-

• Excellent customer service skills; Must speak, read, and write English fluently
• Ability to seek out ways to stay abreast of changing laws and/or regulations and best practices
• Demonstrated ability to lead people with diverse backgrounds
• Attention to detail; Able to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
• Ability to meet deadlines with constant interruptions during the day

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

Interacts with patients, staff members within the UMC Hospital, peers of Health Information Management teams, and external medical staff and outside physicians

Physical Capabilities

Work involves walking and at times, prolonged periods of sitting. May be required to transport records/files via self, cart, or vehicle; bundled items weighing up to 25 lbs. Near visual acuity to read documents, charts, and computer records necessary.

Environmental/Working Conditions

Position is indoors and not prone to hazardous materials but may experience constant changing indoor temperatures
