We are looking for an experienced Data Transformation Lead to drive effective Team Operations within the B&I Data organisation. The role would require oversight of Data Governance activities, managing key change initiatives and managing Operations for the team. The role will be responsible for creating / reviewing materials for the Boards, Executive Committees, Regulators and internal governance forums. These materials will need to clearly articulate components of strategy, execution, business outcomes, progress, risks, measurement and reduction of data quality risk over time. The role will be responsible for operating the governance of regulatory and strategic change initiatives within the B&I data organization.

This would require close coordination with the cluster data teams within B&I and the wider global EDO organization to ensure a consistent global approach. The role is responsible for managing risks, issues, actions and resolution of conflicts related to plan execution. One programme in particular, the UK data quality programme, is expected to command most of the focus for this role, at least through end of 2025, given the high profile, high impact nature of the associated regulatory commitments. This role requires a thorough understanding of enterprise data governance concepts combined with practical experience of implementing them in a complex and dynamic organization. Excellent verbal and exceptional written skills are required as well as the ability to influence and advise a multitude of cross functional stakeholders at different levels in the organisation. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Management responsibility of a small team, including management of people, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, and budget approval 
  • Dedicated focus on the UK data quality programme to support all aspects of execution including project management, PMO oversight, status reporting, leading governance forums, producing written updates for the Board, Regulator and executive governance forums
  • Proactively liaise with senior stakeholders across Business lines and Functions to design and execute Transformation plan commitments, drive alignment on execution steps and timing, and/or support adoption of enterprise approaches and guidelines
  • Lead team meetings and working sessions to ensure clear cross-functional communications
  • Foster continuous improvement through regular stakeholder engagement and coaching (e.g., sharing best practices, educating on consistent approaches, helping with interpretation of enterprise guidance) and cadence of interactions within businesses, regions and functions
  • Drive communication strategy, build partnership and execution among a wide variety of stakeholders, including Data providers, Data consumers, technologists, regulators, and 2nd and 3rd line of defense to drive the effective execution of the Data transformation plan
  • Monitor and communicate progress of the plan, anticipate risks and issues, and challenge execution teams’ plans to identify roadblocks, and dependencies
  • Develop, coordinate and present materials at Board and Senior Management meetings. Prepare materials for periodic regulatory meetings and UK Senior Manager attestations.
  • Drive business management and communication management for B&I Data. Ensure consistency of messaging across B&I clusters for B&I Data.
  • First point of contact for multiple groups, programs and committees across the firm wanting to understand the impact of change programs.
  • Prepare regular updates to senior forums within Banking & International (e.g. Data Council meetings), attended by heads of the respective businesses and clusters.
  • Effective supervision of the activity of others while creating accountability with those who fail to maintain the standards expected.

Qualifications: 

  • 20+ years of experience in a complex, financial organization, with a particular focus in Data Governance, including 8-10+ years' managerial experience. Experience in large-scale, multi-year transformation and capability building efforts with experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Data and technological knowledge, covering recent topics such as Data governance and Operating models. Experience in regulatory remediation efforts with data programs, including BCBS 239 Principles, Data Governance practices and policies.
  • Experience of Risk and Finance functions/architecture and familiarity with multiple asset classes (e.g. Interest Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities, Equities, Prime) would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional communicator, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels. Expert at written updates for board and regulators, skilled at storytelling and visualizing complex/ambiguous concepts
  • Can effectively lead change in an organization with Citigroup’s size, scale and complexity; Experience leveraging the processes and principles of change management to drive organizational change, defining change criteria, providing support and education, managing resistance, and measuring outcomes
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizations; and demonstrates effective work relationships with business and global function colleagues
  • Strong risk and control mindset, with experience of working with 2nd and 3rd line of defense functions.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, TEAMS and SharePoint.
  • Proven ability to work in high-pressure environments. Past experience of working within Consulting / Audit with ‘Big-4’ firms
