The Lead Pharmacist – Inpatient supports pharmacy operations at Akron General Hospital, with the inpatient pharmacy located on the first floor and serving multiple inpatient service lines across the hospital. This role combines operational leadership with clinical pharmacy responsibilities, supporting medication preparation, distribution, and workflow coordination within a fast-paced inpatient environment. In addition to core pharmacist responsibilities, this caregiver rotates through multiple operational functions including patient chart review and medication order verification, sterile and non-sterile compounding checks, triaging patient care needs, and facilitating pharmacist and technician workflows. The role also includes dedicated project time to support technician scheduling, quality improvement initiatives, departmental and enterprise projects, and ongoing operational enhancements aimed at improving workflow efficiency and patient care outcomes.
A caregiver in this role will work first shift, with operational shifts scheduled from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. At least one project day per week may be scheduled based on departmental needs. There are no weekend or holiday requirements. This role also participates in an administrative on-call rotation approximately every tenth week alongside the leadership team.
