ChampionX has an immediate need for a Temporary Human Resources Representative (HR Business Partner) supporting our Canadian Production Chemical Technologies group for a 12-month contract. This position is based in Calgary, AB at our SE Calgary Plant. What You Will Do:

  • Serve as a contributing, strategic member of the HR team supporting our team operating in multiple locations across Western Canada.

  • Partner with business leaders from front-line management to senior leaders and build effective relationships with your key stakeholders.

  • Understand talent needs and align recruitment strategy and efforts with organizational goals in partnership with our Talent Acquisition Partner.

  • Develop workforce plans, considering both short and long-term talent requirements.

  • Lead mega people processes annually including performance reviews, merit and talent calbrations ensuring accountability for ongoing development of the team.

  • Create succession plans and partner on the development of employees into succession plans for critical roles.

  • Leverage technology and data analytics through Workday to optimize processes establishing metrics and KPI's if none previously existed.

  • Work closely with HR and business leaders to enhance employee engagement and retention strategies.

  • Conduct stay and exit interviews to gather insights and improve retention efforts.

  • Develop programs to foster a positive employee relations.

  • Address employee relations issues promptly and professionally.

  • Mediate conflicts and provide guidance to managers on handling sensitive situations.

  • Respond timely to all employee inquiries.

  • Conduct investigations into policy violations and partner with our legal team where necessary to provide timely and thoughtful solutions.

  • Support employees through the leave management process and complete all necessary documentation for worker’s compensation, medical and other leaves.

  • Partner with managers on return-to-work plans and accommodation protocol.

  • Participate in policy review and development for the region

  • Participate or lead strategic projects regionally and globally where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • 5 or more years of progressive HR experience

  • Experience working as HR support in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in leading leave management processes including in-depth knowledge of worker's compensation.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Immigration sponsorship and relocation are not available for this opportunity

  • Personal vehicle with the ability to travel once per week to our plant in Rockyview, AB and once every 2 months to our Leduc, AB plant.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Senior Management with a solutions-focused approach

  • Practical application of Canadian provincial employment standards in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia

  • Prior experience utilizing Workday

  • Proven people agility and ability to navigate ambiguity

  • Strong customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Capable of building strong relationships and rapport with employees, the leadership team and HR colleagues

  • Exceptional verbal & written communication, presentation, and coaching skills

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and work with all levels of the organization while using sound judgement, resourcefulness and tact in handling confidential matters or sensitive employee data
