The Analyst Repo Trader on the Term Securitized Products Financing Desk is an intermediate-level position responsible for actively managing a non-agency securitized products repo matched book and providing financing solutions for non-agency firm inventory. This role involves a deep understanding of securitized products and financing structures, requiring strong analytical capabilities and effective communication skills to support revenue generation, risk mitigation, and client engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Trading and Revenue Generation:
    • Assist with a trading book, actively managing a non-agency securitized products repo matched book and firm inventory financing.
    • Generate revenues and manage risk for the respective business, focusing on optimal collateral utilization and funding strategies.
    • Trade a book and deliver budgeted revenues by executing vanilla flow repo and term structured repo solutions.
  • Market Analysis & Client Engagement:
    • Work with clients and sales to source new inquiries and identify market opportunities within securitized products.
    • Analyze securitized products and review various funding structures to meet client and firm needs.
    • Source diverse funding outlets for non-agency RMBS/CMBS, CLO, and ABS collateral.
    • Anticipate client demand in the securitized products repo market.
  • Risk Management & Optimization:
    • Manage Asset-Liability Management (ALM) considerations for the desk.
    • Execute capital optimization strategies.
    • Coordinate with desk analysts as needed and with sales to develop the franchise.
  • Governance and Controls:
    • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.
    • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance, supervision, expense discipline, and ethics.
    • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm's reputation.
    • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
    • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role, which will be communicated to you.
    • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses that are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe.
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a related role, preferably with exposure to securitized products, repo markets, or fixed income trading.
  • Strong knowledge of securitized products (RMBS, CMBS, CLO, ABS) and repo financing mechanics.
  • Required licensing and registrations as applicable (e.g., FINRA Series 7, 63).
  • Exceptional analytical and numerical competency, with the ability to analyze complex financial instruments and market data.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal (Sales, Research, Risk, Compliance) and external stakeholders (clients, funding counterparties).
  • Ability to analyze and pitch situations, determining suitable counterparties and funding solutions.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, trading protocols, and closing technicalities.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
