POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Manage all sales and use tax matters, including, but not limited to, planning, compliance, audit defense, and research

Act as a knowledge base for sales and use tax, franchise tax, and other local tax obligations for all Subsidiaries

Support handling of sales and use tax, franchise tax, property tax, any other local tax obligations

Maintain organized records of all tax filings, payments, and correspondence

Assist in the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns (30+ states) as well as supporting the Tax Manager in the preparation of the income tax provision for financial statement purposes

Prepare various schedules regarding tax planning including projected effective tax rates and other forecasting with the Tax Manager

Collaborate with IT and finance teams to improve tax automation and reporting systems while maintaining the existing technologies within the tax function

Support system upgrades or implementations to comply with evolving tax laws

Interface with various tax authorities including handling tax audits across the company, as necessary

Stay current with any current or future pronouncements regarding tax policy changes

Identify opportunities to improve and otherwise streamline tax function, including optimizing current processes

Act as a knowledge base for state and local tax regulations for project or financial managers, which may include new research tasks

Help explain tax considerations to a non-tax audience within and outside of the finance department

Work with external advisors to address complex tax matters.

Support special tax projects regarding aspects of all taxes

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in taxation, accounting, finance, or similar
  • Minimum 4 years of income tax and indirect tax compliance experience in public accounting and/or a corporate tax department
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong federal and state corporate tax knowledge and research skills
  • Strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations in the U.S. 
  • Familiarity with nexus rules, taxability, and exemption certificates
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and U.S. tax laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with other members of the tax function, finance/accounting function, and the company in general
