Job Description

Position Summary

Located in Mumbai and reporting to the SVP, Finance of Brookfield Infrastructure (“BIG”) in Toronto, the Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Financial Reporting and Operations of the BIG Private Fund functions that are performed in India, and will be based in Mumbai, India. This is a highly visible leadership role that interacts with many other departments, including treasury, investments team, tax, and finance teams in other parts of the world as well as our external Fund Administrators. The successful candidate will be a demonstrated leader and a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent interpersonal skills, is detail oriented, possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity and has a strong foundation in finance and accounting.

Responsibilities include:

Team Management

  • Key contributor for the build out and ongoing hiring of the finance and operations team in Mumbai, India

  • Train, mentor and motivate the growing team of finance professionals

  • Review work of team members and provide feedback for improvement

  • Monitor and analyze team performance in order to achieve performance targets

Reporting – Fund reporting and investment property reporting

  • Review financial statements and investor reporting prepared in accordance with US GAAP – Investment Company Accounting and IFRS

  • Contributor for the external audit and tax reporting process with big 4 firms

  • Review work products including Partners’ Capital Statements (“PCAPS”), ILPA Reporting and Notices, Luxembourg reporting requirements, Co-Investment and feeder financial statements, expense allocations, and more

Financial Operations

  • Key reviewer of investor capital calls and distributions

  • Review various financial information and analytics to ensure accuracy of reporting as well as optimal performance

Financial, Planning & Analysis

  • Review regular forecasting/re-forecasting and related analytics

  • Monitor liquidity and assess capital needs for the business

Assist with value-add initiatives

  • Assist as needed with due diligence related to refinancing, dispositions, development and re-development

  • Identify areas for process improvement and enhancement; design and implement automation improvement

  • Assist with system enhancements with focus on making scalable for future growth and increase efficiency, including acting as the key finance liaison and training staff and third party accounting teams

  • Manage special projects, as required

Qualifications & Requirements

Must Have:

  • University degree in Business or Finance

  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CA / CPA)

  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive work experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience; experience in infrastructure and/or private funds is considered an asset

  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP – Investment Company Accounting in relation to private fund investments

  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Highly analytical with great attention to detail

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, a team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work

  • Experience managing staff through large projects and tight timelines

  • Excellent communication skills, can work effectively with all levels and departments within a complex organization 

  • Can work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines

  • Strategic thinker that can think outside the box, focused on efficiency and improving existing processes

  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
