The Youth Programs Summer Clinic Nurse is hired by the Youth Programs Office. The core functions are to provide in-person and telehealth triage care for minor participants attending a UNH youth program/summer camp and attending some camp check-in dates to manage participant medications.
Summer on-campus minor participants typically number 4,000-5,000 in approx. 35 day and overnight camp offerings over the course of 8 weeks. The nurse is located in the summer youth programs clinic on the UNH-Durham campus. The position requires clinic coverage Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.
This is not an overnight position and no room and board is provided.
Position Dates: June 15, 2026 (or earlier if possible) - August 14, 2026.
Camps run from June 21-August 14.
Hours: 40 hours/week (9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday), with some flexibility if weekend hours are required.
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide triage and follow-up care for minor participants through in-person and tele-health consultation.
Follow up, as needed, with program staff & managers, and/or a parent/guardian. This may include recommendations for camp staff to transport a student to urgent care, the ER, etc.
Assist with participant health-related support needs requests.
Review all camp participant health information and ensure pertinent information is communicated with the appropriate program staff before camp begins.
Support program managers, including for youth programs that are held off-campus.
Attend camp check-in dates to collect medications. This includes some weekend hours.
Maintain a clinic visit/communication log through the youth programs software, CampDoc.
Determine clinic supply needs.
Understand and follow all youth program health and wellness protocols.
Prepare a summary and evaluation of the camp season and make recommendations for the following season.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Registered Nurse (RN) from State of NH
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) from State of NH
Other Requirements:
Current certifications needed as part of RN role, including CPR and First Aid
At least 21 years of age
Must undergo a criminal background check and complete an online Protection of Minors training before beginning work
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with children and young adults, such as in a camp or school setting
Familiarity with medications
Ability to work with little supervision
Excellent working skills, including communication, organization and attention to detail
Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software
