Job Description

We're currently looking for a Mechanical Site Engineer to bolster our delivery team. You’ll be based out of Alkimos working on a major water infrastructure project.

The Project
The Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WA's next major water source - A new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos. At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean, safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year.
The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.

Key accountabilities for the position:

  • Keep management advised of all quality, schedule and budget variances in a timely manner.
  • Manage subordinate or other discipline resources to quality, schedule and budget requirements.
  • Shop drawing review and disposition.
  • Preparing project documents and reports.
  • Managing with the mechanical subcontractors about the contract, planning, cost, QC and HSE.
  • Creating and enforcing project quality plan.
  • Data and document entry into various platforms.
  • Reporting safety, health and quality issues to management.
  • Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation.
  • Support proposal opportunities that are strategically aligned with your group
  • Assist management as directed.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • You will have a tertiary education in Mechanical engineering
  • You will have a solid foundation of site-based experience working on a range of mechanical packages.
  • Experience working on water projects (desirable)
  • An ability to understand design, problem solve, learn, adapt and continually challenge yourself
  • Well-developed communication skills and an ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of subcontractors, local authorities, internal staff and clients
