As an RN Specialist, you will be responsible for providing and/or assisting with the care of patients receiving cardiac catheter procedures, including admitting patients, and providing pre- and post-procedure care to patients admitted to the POD for various heart, vascular and related procedures. A caregiver in this position works 4 days per week from 7:00AM – 5:30PM. No weekends, holidays or call required. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Coordinate patient transfers within the facility and outlying facilities. 

• Provide patient care during Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, such as left and right heart caths, temporary pacemakers, angioplasties/stent, IABP, etc. 

• Ensure patient and caregiver safety. 

• Admit, assess and provide pre- and post- procedure care to patients admitted to POD for various H&V procedures, including patients from Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Function, EP lab, etc. 

• In the Cardiac Cath Lab: record and monitor arterial pressures, EKG and other vital signs during procedures, assess patients and give medications as ordered by a physician, circulate and scrub in during procedures and prepare rooms and equipment for procedure to be performed. 

• Complete mandatory education and training to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure.  

• Remain flexible to work in and cross train between other areas in the Heart and Vascular Center. 

• Support and participate in community wellness programs. 

• Serve as preceptor for university students in nursing and/or other health sciences. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) 

• Current state licensure in Ohio as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross 

• Ability to interpret cardiac arrhythmias 

• Ability to take call and safely make it to the hospital within 30 minutes once a STEMI has been called  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

• Critical care and/or Emergency Department nursing experience 

• Cardiology or Telemetry background
