SUMMARY:
The Department of Health and Human is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for a professional, non-tenure-track, position in Sport & Recreation Management within the Department of Health and Human Performance. The successful candidate will teach courses in Sport and Recreation Management and Applied Sports Analytics and serve as the program lead for the B.S. Sport and Recreation Management. The successful applicant will teach fifteen credit hours (5/5), coordinate SRM internships, advise students, serve on department and university committees. Other duties as assigned.
Individuals must have a terminal degree in Sport Management, Sport Leadership, or related field. We are seeking an educator with higher education teaching experience, administrative experience in sport, and strong interpersonal skills.
The position is a full-time, 9-month, professional-track position at the Assistant Professional Track rank. Summer teaching is optional but not guaranteed. The position will primarily serve as the program coordinator for the BS in Sport and Recreation Management. Faculty at East Texas A&M University are required to show evidence in teaching excellence, conduct scholarly activity, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching
● Teach courses in the areas of Sport and Recreation Management.
● Coordinate internships of Sport & Recreation Management students
● Coordinate the undergraduate program in Sport and Recreation Management offered by the Department of Health & Human Performance and oversee the growth of the degree.
● Contribute to curriculum development and develop courses in area(s) of expertise.
● Demonstrate commitment to effective and innovative pedagogy.
Service
● Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance.
● Contribute to the professional community through activities such as reviewing, conference participation, and organizational service.
● Engage in outreach or community engagement consistent with the mission of the university.
● Identify and cultivate partnerships with businesses and organizations in the sport management industry
● Lead recruitment and retention efforts for the sport management programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
● Terminal degree in Sport Management, Sport Leadership, or a closely related field.
● Demonstrated record of effective teaching in both in-person and online courses.
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
● Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
● Experience mentoring and advising students.
