JOB SUMMARY

A successful Product Owner in the Commercial Technology Team derives personal satisfaction from advancing business objectives, adding value to the company, and providing great service to internal business partners and external customers. This position will be a key contributor within a dynamic, highly motivated team focused on ushering in a new generation of industry-leading digital solutions to position Oneok as the midstream operator of choice. The Product Owner will have the opportunity to be a part of the full product life cycle of highly complex products and offerings to ensure various aspects of the business are serving the current and future needs of Oneok's customers, as well as directly impact the bottom line of the company. The Product Owner will be independently motivated and deliberately collaborative. In addition, the Product Owner will have extensive analytical skills to solve business problems utilizing technology, serve as a change agent for the organization, and be willing to learn as needed to solve real-world problems continuously.

While ONEOK is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this position may be hybrid or remote.

This position is eligible for remote work in one of the following states: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, or Wyoming. This position will require some travel for office meetings, as needed, to our corporate office in Tulsa, OK.

This position will be a key contributor within a dynamic, highly motivated team focused on ushering in a new generation of industry-leading digital solutions to position the company as the midstream operator of choice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Liaison/Collaboration:

    • Works independently with limited supervision as well as within a team environment.

    • Works with internal stakeholders and external customers to analyze the needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals.

    • Works closely with Product Management and senior management in order to create a product that fits the company portfolio.

    • Works with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders, including analytics, design/user experience, and IT.

    • Works closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI

    • Collaborates with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements

    • Works with business partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs

    • Understands the customer journey and defines user requirements/use cases/user stories.

    • Works with the team to agree on accepted story completion.

    • Assists the Product Development team to meet the objectives of each sprint.

    • Participates in daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement Meetings, Sprint Planning Meetings, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

    • Ensures that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on.

    • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal

    • Assists the Product Development team to meet the objectives of each sprint.

  • Product Strategy:

    • Partners with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.

    • Engages with business partners and influences project decisions; assesses the risks of various solutions and prioritizes competing business demands.

    • Acts as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.

    • Develops and defines backlog items (epics/features/user stories) that guide the Agile software development team.

    • Assesses value, develops cases, and prioritizes stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.

  • Product Development:

    • Develops appropriately detailed specifications for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development teams.

    • Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.

    • Manages testing library and all user acceptance testing needs

    • Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.

    • Stays up-to-date with current technologies and technical developments.

    • Solves product-related problems, makes decisions, and completes trade-off analysis to stay on track toward business deliverable commitments.

Education

  • Bachelors or better in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Product Design, or related field; or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience

  • Previous experience working in a Product Line operational model preferred

    Demonstrated experience managing a project through the entire product life cycle utilizing Agile methodologies.

  • Deep understanding and experience with Agile methodologies.

  • Experience with a definition of minimum marketable features and minimum viable products.

  • Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen.

  • Technical background with experience in software development or web technologies.

  • Demonstrated strong partnering, mentoring, and coaching skills.

  • Previous experience as a Scrum Master.

  • Previous experience in software development.

  • Previous experience in a marketing role.

  • Hands-on experience in technologies including Atlassian Suite, Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Dynamics, Figma, and/or InVision.

  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas Industry

Licenses and Certifications

One or more industry-recognized certifications such as IIBA Certifications, Professional Scrum Certifications, Scrum Alliance Certifications, PMI Certifications, and SAFe Certifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and become a go-to expert in various processes unique to Oneok and the Midstream Industry.

  • Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.

  • Desire and ability to develop deep knowledge of Oneok's Marine business functions.

  • Desire and ability to pro-actively solve problems and influence decision-makers without the need to involve higher levels of authority.

  • Excellent presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with business partners, managers, directors, and developers.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in a dynamic Product Owner role.

  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties.

  • Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail, multitask and work well under pressure.

  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • A high degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability.

  • Proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions with a customer-first mindset.

  • Established background in launching software or services in partnership with development teams and a high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, understanding of Agile principles.

  • Natural tendency to be curious, positive, and creative.

  • Sincere empathy for the customer and a commitment to delving deep into the challenges they present or experience.

  • Proven experience overseeing all elements of the product development life cycle.

  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, including absorbing and processing large amounts of data into actionable information.
